Summer of Smoothies: The Purple Pow!

Those of us who love purple tend to overdo it. Clothes, bags, phone and iPad cases – I have to check myself to make sure it’s not too much (for me, anyway…) But there’s nothing overdone about this smoothie – it packs an antioxidant punch into a gorgeous, delicious treat. It starts with frozen açai, the superfood that also provides healthy fats and amino acids. It keeps the antioxidant train running with blueberries, red grapes, orange juice and raw cacao nibs.

This gorgeous purple smoothie is more than nutritious. It also tastes amazing: sweet and tart with bitter spikes from the raw cacao nibs. It’s also an ice-cold blast of energy – a perfect pick-me-up for a hot summer afternoon.

The Purple Pow!

1 packet (100gr) frozen unsweetened açai

4 standard ice cubes
2 Tbsp raw cacao nibs

* Place all ingredients except cacao nibs in a blender.
